Cirque Body Aerial Yoga Class
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

For many years, both aerialists and yoga practitioners have been experimenting with fabric support for stretching and conditioning. Aerial Yoga classes have been developed and trademarked by individuals and various styles now exist globally. In Cirque Body Aerial Yoga class, yoga asanas have a unique expression with the fabric's support integrated. All classes have conditioning and restorative components, much like a regular mat yoga practice. Take your yoga practice off the ground one limb at a time in a progression that suits you.

Aerial yoga is designed to challenge you spiritually, mentally, and physically. Physically, it will allow your body to find its true alignment and accelerate your natural ability to improve balance with the assistance of the fabric. The aerial yoga asanas may also help you "lift and lengthen" as well as strengthen core muscles. This class will be a challenging and playful practice to get you out of your head. Expect a dynamic, flowing sequence of poses that will strengthen, energize, and renew. This class will be vigorous yet accessible for all levels.

Learning Lovingkindness Meditation
Limited Capacity filling up

The Metta Bhavana (Lovingkindness) practice is a heart-awakening meditation practice of offering unconditional friendliness to ourselves and others.  Using ancient techniques passed down from the Buddha himself, in Lovingkindness meditation we honor our authentic connection with all beings and our common desire to be safe and happy.

Metta practice is a profound and powerful practice of remembering.  Remembering that we all desire to be safe and happy.  That we’re not alone.  That we’re deeply connected with one another. That we all share the same vulnerabilities to change and loss.  And it’s a practice of forgiveness, of ourselves and others.  We generate compassion for ourselves, which very naturally becomes a beautiful gift we offer to others.  We honor the inherent goodness of our own hearts, and become more able to recognize and celebrate the goodness of others.  We tend our hearts that our hearts may tend the world.

This simple, transformative, and foundational practice helps us operate from our highest wisdom, cultivating our naturally kind, joyful, compassionate heart energy which naturally radiates outward.  This energy is our inherent potential, our boundless birthright.

Anyone can learn to do basic Lovingkindness meditation and receive both immediate and long-lasting benefits.  Metta meditation has been shown to increase positive emotions and decrease negative ones, reduce chronic pain, activate empathy and compassion centers of the brain, curb self-criticism and judgment of others, fight effects of aging, and drastically increase our sense of happiness, well-being, and connection with others.

Lovingkindness heals.  It’s that simple.  And the beauty of Metta energy is how it blossoms continually outward, transforming everyone it touches.  As Rumi said, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within you that you have built against it.”

Join Sagel for Learning Lovingkindness Meditation to learn the foundations of this beautiful, profound practice and concrete ways to bring it into each of your days. This workshop includes meditation instruction, guided meditation practice, and Q&A and no experience is necessary.  If you can breathe, can meditate!  You’ll walk away from this workshop with basic skills to continue your Lovingkindness practice both on and off the cushion.

Students are encouraged to bring blocks and or blanketd to use as a seat.

Ayurveda: Daily Habits for Balanced Living
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Join yoga teacher and Ayurvedic lifestyle coach Jamie Worster for this inspiring talk you won’t want to miss. Learn simple habits that will allow you to access deeper energy, prioritize self care, change the way you age and thrive in body, mind and heart. Traditionally, Yoga and Ayurveda went hand in hand. One was not understood, nor taught, without the other. Ayurveda, or the science of life is the ancient yogic medicine that acknowledged individual differences, imbalances, and treatments. Ayurveda is based on living in sync. When you synchronize your bodily rhythms to nature’s clock, your physiology harmonizes and you experience balance, ease and flow. When you live against nature’s body clock, you experience stress, rapid aging and dis-ease. For the Yoga Teacher or serious student, an understanding of Ayurveda is part of a complete yoga practice. In this workshop you will learn practical tools to support your health and wellness both on and off the your mat. We will discuss the impact of small changes made in our daily routine’s that over time create real lasting improvement. You will learn essential daily habits to help you thrive now and age gracefully. Take not only your asana practice, but your health and life to a whole new level of vibrancy and depth.

Do U YIN?
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

“Hot” Yoga practices activate a determined, purposeful, muscular and often thinking way of practicing (think vinyasa, Bikram). YIN yoga’s methodology is different. Its purpose is to begin the “un-doing.” We allow the effects of traction or compression to affect key junctures in the body – shoulders, spine, hips – to soften us, to rebalance energy flow. Introspective and offering longer holds than faster practices, YIN starts NOT from a place of activity. Instead we'll start slow and stay slow, holding the shapes for 3-5 minutes. We will enlist time, stillness and gravity as key allies. In doing so we switch the autonomic nervous system's “lever” from the go go GO “fight or flight” pattern in our lives we all know too well these days to a natural calm, “rest & digest” place of being that awaits rediscovery of its potent effects on our health and well-being.

SPA Yoga - The Chakras
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Journey the path of the subtle body using the chakras as a vehicle. We will use the foundational SPA Yoga experience of a slow-flow, floor-based, whole-body sensory practice with pranayama and vivid visualizations designed to help you make a deep connection to the chakras—energy centers that align in different parts of the body. We will use the physical practice to open the body and breath and meditations to connect to our inner wisdom. Class will culminate with a guided meditation and yoga nidra that will connect you with your chakras on an even deeper level.

By engaging all five of the senses with soothing music, aromatherapy, lots of hands-on assists and a renewed awareness of taste (and chocolate!), SPA yoga aligns practitioners with the inner wisdom of deep relaxation. The physical practice takes time to open the body’s subtle energy and prepares students to experience new depths of awareness in an extended, guided relaxation and Yoga Nidra. You’ll float off your mat feeling like you’ve just had a trip to the spa!

Put Your Hands On Me: The Art of Assisting
Limited Capacity seats available

At Om Land Yoga, our studio in mid-Maine, we love assisting – so much so that we consider it the 9th limb of yoga. The first 8 limbs of yoga serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and discipline of practice for the self. When we move beyond the self and translate that knowledge through our hands to another we practice, in essence (if not actually in Pantajali’s Yoga Sutras), the ninth limb of yoga.

Do you want to assist more, but just lack the confidence or training?  We will start from the premise that assisting begins with the understanding and practices of yoga philosophy that can then be expanded to incorporate the physical mechanics of helping another yogi deepen their practice.

Topics include:
  • The Yamas, Niyamas, and other principles of yogic ethics as foundations for approaching assisting
  • Alignment in individual asana
  • Cultivating stillness in yourself and space in those you touch
  • Maintaining your own alignment, external and internal, while assisting
  • How to develop a practice of assisting that balances giver, receiver, and gift.
In this workshop, we will cover everything you need to know. (OK – we’ll just barely scratch the surface. Assisting, like the rest of yoga, is a life long practice – but we’ll help you begin your journey.)

Tension Tamer in the Neck, Upper Back, and Shoulders
Limited Capacity seats available

Find balance, reduce pain, and protect your body with Postural Yoga. This method of healing, created by Amy, helps practitioners find balance, reduce pain, and protect their bodies from future injuries to come. Through genetics and habitual patterns, we are all in misalignment. These imbalances are a big cause of chronic pain in the body and will eventually lead to injury.

Postural Yoga looks at common structural imbalances in our bodies and works to correct them. We will massage, stretch, and strengthen areas that are tight and weak with body rolling, traditional yoga asana, and restorative stretches. This workshop will focus on releasing tension in the neck, upper back, and shoulders. Amy will begin class with rolling techniques to soften the connective tissue in the body. Then we will move into stretching and strengthening asanas to find balance in our muscles. You will better understand terms like external rotation, head of the arm bone back, and drop down through your low, front ribs.

Class will end with a restorative focus. Through meditative exercises, breath work and passive stretches, we will calm the nervous system and find further release through the connective tissue in our bodies. This work will help to ease nagging pain in your neck and upper back and release those "knots" you are always complaining about! All levels are welcome!

Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Unwind the effects of sitting (often described as the “new smoking”) in this all level Yoga TuneUp® workshop. We will explore the anatomy of the pelvic region, common patterns,  range of movement and how it relates to function and/or dysfunction, with Ida Rolf’s adage to “horizontalize” or bring balance to the pelvis. You will learn unique yoga-based therapeutic exercises and will develop an understanding that aims at improving mobility and increasing stability to find balance in your hips.

The work also includes the use of massage balls, which is often described as receiving a deep tissue massage. Working with unique myofascial release tools, you will find an easy approach to roll out tension and help identify patterns traveling to other areas of the body, which may highlight underuse or lacking awareness. Join us to unlock the power of your hips and reconnect to your original sense of ease and freedom buried within.

Aerial Yoga classes have been developed and trademarked by individuals and various styles now exist globally. Divine Purification
Limited Capacity seats available

The Ancient Practice of Mangalam Yantra Yoga
The Sanskrit term “Yantra” (Tibetan ‘khrul ‘khor) which generally means “device” or “machine” refers to a set of traditional physical exercises that can be used to purify the energy body of a yoga practitioner. Originally introduced to Tibet in the 10th Century AD by the MahaSiddha Virupa, these profound techniques are typically practiced in secret after years of preparation in order to prepare a yoga practitioner for deeper states of meditative absorption. Participants in this workshop will receive the transmission of a traditional Tibetan mantra, an experiential overview of how to structure daily purification practices, and a basic overview of physical techniques that can be used to balance and release blockages throughout the body.

Undo The Glue: A YIN Unraveling
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

A YIN yoga practice assists in opening the deeper connective tissues within the body, dropping below the surface of more easily hydrated muscle tissues. More plastic in nature, connective tissues can “grow” but require the alchemy of time, stillness and receptivity to gravity's grounding nature to do so. Applying YIN's 3-5 minute holds, we’ll focus on the major intersections of our body – shoulders, back and hips – gently tractioning and compressing these intersections to encourage the inner “bloom” of hydration. The practice will also include breath and meditative awareness to invite the unraveling to occur, not only in our bodies, but in the tangle of our busy thinking minds, leading to an overall sense of interior spaciousness and well-being.

Journey into Harmony & Bliss: Yin & Yoga Nidra with Live Harpist & Reiki
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

In Reiki, it is said when the River is high and flowing well, we enjoy harmony and health, living blissfully aligned with our highest purpose.  Join Sagel for this very special workshop designed to feed that River of Life within you to raise your vibration level and make manifest your spirit’s truest Intention.  With Daoist Yin yoga acupressure, hands-on Reiki energy work, sound healing with live Harpist accompaniment, and a powerful Yoga Nidra practice, this one of a kind workshop is one you won’t want to miss.

We often speak of Energy as a feeling or emotion (we’re “full of energy” or “feeling low energy”), rather than an actual real physical thing – Life Force flowing into and out of every cell in our body, animating and activating every part of our being.  Yet there are many maps of the Energy Body throughout the world: Japanese Reiki, Daoist Meridian theory, the Indian Yogic Prana and Chakras.  Western scientists are beginning to understand what these Ancients in other traditions have long taught: we are, at our core, energetic beings.  Modern technology is finally giving us a glimpse of the reality our eyes would have to be 1000x more sensitive to see: tiny light particles travel through the nervous systems of all living beings.  We are, literally, Beings of Light!

You are Energy, and the health of your Energy body is intimately connected to the health of your Physical and Emotional Bodies.  Together, they form a powerful and sacred triune that propels you toward your life purpose.  This purpose is what the Yogis call your Sankalpa – the purest intention of your spirit, the wish that radiates from your soul that brings Bliss when made manifest.  Disruptions and obstacles in your energy body can result in obstacles your life and keep you from manifesting the life you desire.

Sagel will lead you on a nurturing journey through the landscape of your physical, emotional, and energetic bodies to feed and harness the Energy inside you, to plant the sacred seed of your Sankalpa in the most fertile soil of your spirit so it can manifest as your personal, blessed reality.

Yin Yoga with meditation offers many layers of healing to the body…strengthening and restoring our connective tissues, encouraging spaciousness and equanimity in our minds, and stimulating, refreshing, and rebalancing the flow of QI, or Life Force, through the body’s energy channels called meridians.

Reiki energy healing offers deep relaxation and stress release by restoring Life Force energy balance and vitality.  It is a gentle, effective way to clear and nourish the subtle energy body and professional Reiki energy healers will offer hands-on healing throughout the practice.

The healing vibrations of live harpist accompaniment will serenade your spirit and help to you heal on a cellular level, rebalancing and raising the energy vibration of tissues throughout the body into alignment with the vibration of the Universe.

Yoga Nidra, is the ancient yogic science of deep relaxation and guided meditation, often referred to as the Sleep that Awakens the Soul.  Studies show that just thirty minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of deep restful sleep.
So come find your Bliss and wrap up your weekend feeling rejuvenated and restored – you may want to bring a pillow, a blanket, and light kerchief for your eyes. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary!

Throughout the practice, Reiki practitioners Jennie Foley (Reiki II,  E-RYT 200) and Mea Tavares (Reiki Master, Polarity Therapist) will offer their healing hands in service of your good hearts.
